Having a heart attack or being diagnosed with a cardiac disorders such as high blood pressure, arrhythmia, valve disease or coronary heart disease can be one of the most difficult and challenging life events that can happen to a person. It is a time of huge anxiety about what might happen in the future, how to cope with the ups and downs of daily life along with the burdens of the disease and how to navigate difficult conversations with families and friends.
Having spent years researching and investigating ways in which I could support my own cardiac health, the ways I could promote my own wellbeing so as to give myself the best chance for living a full, easeful and long life, I have accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge.
Since 2009 I have been experimenting upon myself to test what worked and what didn’t and have come to an understanding of heart health that incorporates not just the latest medical science but also traditional complementary ways of healing.
I use modern scientific mind-body techniques such as biofeedback, infrared therapy, massage, emotional regulation techniques and supplements along with medication prescribed by my cardiac doctor. Additionally I have found the appropriate use of relaxation techniques, mind/body movement such as yoga, tai chi, chi gong; meditation, acupuncture, energy healing such as Reiki, spirituality and group wisdom to be very effective in helping me both manage my disease and live a full life.
